Posted By Anne Lawson Hello all Looking for some advice on display of H&S posters in shared premises. Company supplying subcontract services supplies their own health and safety pictorial poster for their employees to refer to and display official H&S poster in their head office. So the H&S poster is not readily available to all employees on a daily basis as per the regs but the dutyholder of the premises already displays a H&S poster and most of the workforce do not speak English anyway! Should they display the official H&S poster also ( or give everyone the leaflet). I know the answer is somewhere in my notes but have spent mad hour reading regulations and am confused! Any advice would be gratefully received! Thanks Anne Lawson

Posted By Charley Farley-Trelawney Hi Anne You ask an interesting question, I will be fair and say I did pick up the reference to the 'non English speaking persons' and to that end I can not provide an answer, I would imagine, and this is just opinion; that say for arguments sake they are 100% non English speaking you would need to have the poster printed in the native tongue, I suspect they are available. Continuing on; it is a legal requirement under the Health and Safety Information for Employees Regulations 1989 for employers to bring to the attention of their employees, information relating to general requirements, duties etc. under health and safety legislation. In addition information must also be provided on the local address of the relevant enforcing authority and the Health and Safety Executive Medical Employment Advisory Service. For the cost of the poster and the 5 minutes to fill it in I don't think you will have much of a problem if you decide to have an extra one. I hope this helps, sorry I could not confirm on the first half, someone will though. Charles
