Posted By Dazmo Hi All, Small organisation has to take money to be banked at local branch. Not a great deal but enough to get you mugged if you met the wrong person. Area has problems with crime in general, so there is the potential of meeting the wrong person. Organisation can not afford to pay for collection by security company so has to be done by member of staff. Anybody had to deal with this kind of issue before? Have thought about variation of time and route, instruction and training for staff and not carrying a big bag with "Full of Money" written on the side. Any other ideas? Thanks for your help!

Posted By Lorraine Shuker 1. Go to bank in pairs ~ safety in numbers 2. Consider the characteristics of who carries the money that may make them either an easier target or off putting (ie burly bloke v young girl) 3. Cash back to customers to reduce amount of cash handled (though would be muggers won't know this of course) 4. Policy that money is handed over ~ no heroics on staff's part 5. Talk to bank see if they have any ideas

Posted By Mark Talbot My friend did this every Saturday for a few years and I noticed a couple of things: A person in a particular type of uniform/dress was a dead giveaway (he was in butcher's 'whites'). So avoid looking like an employee. Seeing someone in the queue give large amounts over the counter on a regular basis is another giveaway ... can the bank be called beforehand and an interview room be used for the transaction? No waiting. Carrying money in a carrier bag clutched so it looks like a swag bag (usually because wheight is too much for the handles) is a no no. Even for short journeys, maybe a car / taxi is better?

Posted By Jeff Manion Change routes. Change times of leading going to bank. Make friends on route at ALL shops / locations / facilities etc, go into corner shop and chat - from shop view outside world. Change shops over days. Do not do the same every day alternate. Had this with a location and cash, local police are normally very helpful. Mind you at the time client had IN placed on them and an interview due with the local EHO

Posted By Ron Hunter Agree absolutely no heroics from staff. Otherwise (don't think anyone else has mentioned) "don't put all your eggs in one basket". If worst comes to worst, your average bad guy may be happy to leg it with what was the obvious 'bag full of money', when clever you has the cash split in several envelopes concealed about your (and your buddy's) person?
