Posted By Jasonjg Please only post comments here and email me direct for copy and not post request on this thread. As with the other tools, this is just to give ideas on what can be modified/created in-house with the use of excel. Ignore the layout as it is just a work in progress and is not yet fully finished. As I created this over the past 3 days, I learned a lot about the potential of excel yet still managed to avoid complicated macro use and programming (would not know where to start anyway). In my opinion the alpha version will work like a dream now, that this is up and running and I have discovered it can be modified to look and lots of different KPI's that may be required as well as prompt managers when actions are lacking. In fact, this can be made to be quite a hot poker if you know what I mean. I just need some input from you guys after you have a look, then I am doing customisable pack which includes all previous tools updated to much better working versions that can all be date checked and audited. Some of you more experienced people will know how to make these tools better so have a look and share info. It is your Ideas that get these tools made. Thanks all. ps. The file is just under 1 meg and the potential is well worth a snoop. If you want it zipped give me a shout. Jason (now tired and going to bed, will be up at 9am) pps. Nice site IOSH

Posted By Jasonjg First, let me apologise to those folks that found this tool a little too messy and not very user friendly due to lack of instructions. It was a late night and the people whom I am working with already knew what to look for. I was biased and expected everyone to be physic. Sorry. Some columns are hidden for those who want to see the workings behind the tool. To see those columns just go to format and set unhide. This is where you will see the mechanics for the new versions. Remember this was only beta so faults did occur. In doing this beta version, I figured that when doing future excel KPI forms of any sort, you should always start on the second row across and the second row down. This gives you three angles to set formulas and other info. I have received some good comments up to now and usually the criticisms are the best ones, keep them comments coming no matter if you feel they should be harsh. Trust me, I am thick skinned. As it was a Beta version there were some problems that only cropped up near the end, and this sets the restrictions of a beta version to what you all now have, though some of you will be able to improve and get ideas from it anyway. However now with the help of some of your comments and some typical examples of what people may be after I can now start on the full version which I will ensure to will come with a very good guide for use and editing and look a lot simpler to use yet still do some deep calculating. I have just spent some time learning how to auto highlight figures in different colours should they reach certain criteria’s. Is there any way to get this to flash as well? Would really appreciate some tips on that area. I am trying to avoid the use of macros with these tools so Date calculating will be difficult for some to grasp. Does anyone else have other ways of linking dates into calculation that do not end in a 00/01/00. At the moment, I use the paste feature and get today’s date to run right down column A. Is that the hard way or is it a good way. Actually, I just discovered that you could use conditional formatting to hide silly results by changing stuff to invisible (good eh). Anyway, I hope someone found some tips, warnings and pointers from this tool for their own pet projects.
