I am interested in issuing PPE via a vending machine in a manufacturing environment as a way of creating accountability for taking care of PPE, and keeping tabs on issue.
The general idea being that a vending machine is stocked with consumable PPE (gloves, rpe, eye protection etc) as required, and each member of staff is issued with a swipe card, or PIN (or something)which they use to draw whatever they require for themselves. The following thoughts spring to mind...
1. PPE will not be charged for (machine should free-vend.
2. The machine will not prevent PPE being issued but will log what is issued.
3. An emergency stock will be available should capacity of machine be insufficient to cope with non routine occurences (e.g. spillages etc.)or in event of machine breakdown.
I believe such systems are used in USA, but I personally have not come accross them in UK or Europe. Does anybody have any experience of them, including potential pitfalls, and could anyone recommend a vending machine supplier/manufacturer?
Thanks in advance

Anderco mentioned to us that they do them (http://www.anderco.ie). I believe that they use the employee's clock card to issue the stuff and you can generate usage reports. Think they are used offshore?
