Posted By Robert K Lewis John Not sure of your industry but that is not really important. At this moment you are making the common error of starting at H&S risks and trying to fit it with the business environment. You nned to identify those areas of risk your business faces and then how H&S contributes to that risk profile. Thus loss of business is a business, ie it is an aspect which is vulnerable to factors which if realised can have varying degrees of impact on the continuance of the business. But Prohibition Notices may be lesser priority than other potential causes of such a risk. You need to get yourself more attuned to Corporate Governace before you can embark on this unaided. The IOSH booklet on Corporate Governance is a simple start point. I would also look at Turnbull and the Combined Code. This is an area which needs to be improved in all Practitioner training. Bob

Posted By Ron Hunter You may find this link useful in putting together your business case: http://www.corporateacco.../makingcompaniessafe.pdf It's available from HSE website. Some discussion around 'director disqualification as a punitive measure'might also help grab their attention - again see the HSE website, corporate accountability. Incidentally, I take it you mean Health, Safety and Environment in your reference to "HSE", and not the Health & Safety Executive?
