Hi,
International Specialist Group have put together a listing of links to websites that includes organisations in the USA. Please have a look at http://www.iosh.co.uk/in...?go=sglinks.main&sgid=10
Happy surfing,

The system for OSH bodies is organised differently in the US to the UK. There are in fact two bodies which cover the remit of IOSH over there. The Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) offers the registration function similar to our professional body role which offers CMIOSH. The US equivalent of this is Certified Safety Professional (CSP). IOSH and BCSP have a reciprocal agreement to recognise each others membership levels. The other main body is the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) which covers our learned society role more in so much that it develops techncial guidance and policy in a US context. You can join as an individual member if you wish.
IOSH have good working relationships with both bodies.

Hi Hazel,
Does this mean that CMIOSHs would be able to apply for CSP status?

Rakesh,
Under our memorandum of association a Chartered Member will be required to take the comptrehensive practice examination set by BCSP but will be waivered the other requirments. You will also be able to maintain their certification via our CPD scheme and you would not need to undertake theirs as well. Similarly a CSP will be able to become CMIOSH if they undertake our open examination. They will be able to maintain their CPD through the BCSP scheme.
The arrangment will start in November when the Chartered MIOSH comes into force. As BCSP do not have a Fellowship, the arrangements will also cover Chartered Fellows in a similar way.

Hazel,
The last time we met, you mentioned that reciprocal arrangements were on the cards between IOSH and BCSP. I notice from your response and the IOSH Annual Report that finally an agreement has been reached. Well done!
Regards
Rakesh
