Hi
I have been asked to produce a risk assessment procedure for our staff who take 14 -16+ on visits out of their training environment.
I have got paperwork for assessments, permission forms etc, But no procedure.
So before I try to put my ideas on paper (or computer) I was wondering if any of you esteemed ladies or gentlemen had anything already written that you could let me see.
Thanks in anticipation
Gary

Hi Gary,
I'd be pleased to help you.
Are you putting together the risk assessments yourself? Please give a little more detail.
Chris

Hi Gary, the local authority should have a risk assessment procedure for you to follow on this.

Gary,
I have forwarded you a copy of our internal guidelines.
I assume you have also reviewed the HSE webpages on the Glenridding Beck tragedy.
They are very instructive providing a series of lessons learned as well as links to other guidance including the DfES, AALA and Scottish Executive.
They can be found on:

Stephen,
I suspect from Gary's email address that he works for the local authority!!

Gary,
Instead of doing a seperate set of procedures for your Trips & Visits Risk Assessment, with the attendant problems that it will just be filed in a basement somewhere, why not try one of the following:
- A Generic Risk Assessment procedure (e.g. 5 Steps...).
- Inserting a clause that as only qualified trained risk assessors will be involved in compiling the assessment, no procedure is required (because by definition the assessor is already competent and can rely on their training).
Just an idea. Any minute now I expect to be slapped in the face by a plank for even considering that there must be a better way of doing things.
