I am dusting off my English passport, leaving Sydney and heading over to London. I have an Aussie OHS Degree, 5 years Aussie OHS work experience and I just received MIOSH. I will be looking for OHS work in central London in the New Year when my travel fund runs out.
I would appreciate it if anyone can advise where I can access your legs/regs etc to study up on so I am up to speed for job interviews. Any other advise/tips you have for getting to know the local OHS scene etc via the internet would be appreciated.
SHP gives the impression there is a robust OHS market - would you agree?
And before you mention it congratulations on the Ashes, the best team won etc, etc, etc.

Ellen (or is it Laura?)
HSE publish 'Essentials of Health and Safety' which gives a broad brush outline of legislation in the UK and contains extensive references which you can follow up. You can buy it online from HSE Books at http://www.hsebooks.com/...ult.asp?cookie%5Ftest=1.

I would suggest you stay out of Scotland with your English passport

Only reason to say out of Scotland is there are less jobs up here.
I'm English with a BRITISH passport and find the natives very welcoming.

You've got them started on sport and you won't get any sense out of them now! IT'S ONLY A GAME!!!
If you haven't found it already, the HSE website:
www.hse.gov.uk
Loads of free leaflets and useful stuff but you have to pay for the acops.
To see the UK legislation for free:
www.opsi.gov.uk
Use advanced search to find the topics you want. If you know the full title this saves you a lot of time. You will probably mostly be wanting the Statutory Instruments. You can access all these for free and print them off. They're a bit of a pain sometimes with the layout, as they have you flicking back and forth from section to section. I recommend post it notes and highlighter pens if it's a specific query you get.
I don't know if it is a specific sector you are in now or are thinking about, but it would be money well spent sending off for the HSE guidance books on your pet topics just to make sure there are no conflicts with the Aussie rules.
Best of luck and have you been warned about our weather?!!
