Posted By darren Wondering if anyone can help, I am currently reviewing Occupational Road Risk within my company. I have been onto ROSPA and a few organisations that specialise in IT soultions for driver training and risk assessments etc. I was wondering if anyone has developed papaer based (word docs) MORR policy and more particular a risk assessment format specific and/or generic that takes in all the Driver, Vehicle & Journey that you may be willing to share. If anyone could help or is willing to share documents it would be much apprieciated and like wise if anyone may require any info on this subject that I may have come across please ask and I can pass on. Many thanks in advance Darren

Posted By John Lewis A few years ago I knew a Manager who felt that ORR was a simple topic and could be easily dealt with in half a day of his valuable time. All the outcomes of his risk assessment were "Negligible Risk" !!!!!!! because; All the company cars have ABS - they didn't No cars are more than 2 litre - General Manager 3.9 litre Range Rover & HR Manager 2.5 Discovery Nobody exceeds the speed limit - three senior managers on 9 points! All vehicles are low power - one of which, a pool car(!), was a Honda Civic type R! Nobody drives before 07.00 or after 22.00 - everybody was on call out for anytime of day Other road users, not a problem, all cars have Air Bags! And so on and so forth in the same vein. Unfortunately I did not keep a copy of the RA when I left, it would have been priceless as a stand up comic script. This was first aired in public in a H&S committee meeting when many there thought it was a joke being April. Sadly it was not and was withdrawn and the task given to people who had a clue what they were doing. Regards John

Posted By Mark Mace Hello all, Surely one item that no one has mentioned is the ability of each individual driver, i have found that some of our hgv drivers of thirty years experience are a higher risk than drivers of 5 years experience, surely this would have to be taken into account in the risk assessment. Also risks have been proven to be far greater on rural roads than on motorways, should this also be covered on the basis of percentage of time each driver spends on differing types of roads. i look forward to your comments. regards,
