Posted By J Knight Hi Folks, Transco, Railtrack (well, Network Rail) and Balfour Beatty. Not a good week for their shareholders, but maybe a reasonable one for justice. A couple of thoughts; do we think there will or should be repercussions for the individual managers of these companies whose decisions arguably cost their employers many millions of pounds? After all, individuals were found not guilty in court, does that mean that their employers will be happy with them? What about the underlying government created market structures these formerly public enterprises operated in? Do we think (as a talking head on Planet Rock news just said) that government regulation created fragmented industries where these kind of things are more likely? I'm not at all sure, as disasters happened in nationalised industries, but what do others think? Big questions, with implications for our role, and it is Friday, John
