Posted By stevehaigh I was sent the maintenance information yesterday for a large bubble tube which is located in a sensory room in a day centre for the elderly, and it indicated that ‘due to increasing concern about infection risks from the water used in Bubble Tubes. To prevent the growth of harmful microbes in the water the company suggests the following routine maintenance: Change the water monthly ……………………….. A suitable water sterilising tablet should be added when refilling. I am at a loss, the unit is sealed, and therefore the threat of infection is heightened when maintenance is carried out. Surely the best maintenance would be to visually check the system prior to use and then have an annual service. This is not my area of expertise, and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Posted By Stephen J W Clegg. I have had experience and the benefits of these tubes and have never heard of anything like this??? Would the same logic be applied to all sealed units containing water i.e. Spirit Levels??? Not to mention the numerous children’s toys on the market... Steve.
