Hi all,

We do annual inspection of Pressure vessels. The inspector does pressure test for steam jackets only and other pressure system by visual observation though those systems are pressurised much higher than steam pressure. I have refered pressure system safety regs 2000, it say about annual examination but doesn't say whether it needs to be pressure tested or visual inspection is sufficient.

Could anyone clarify my question please.

Have a nice week end every one.

Thanks,

Regards,

Baskey

Items that fall under the Pressure Systems Safety regulations 2000 rquire a competent person to draw up a written scheme of examination. This written scheme will define what checks or tests are made and when.

Your company should be in possession of the written scheme of examination and it is your company's responsibility to see that the checks are done and that you keep records of the checks and carry out any remedial work required.

I suggest you contact the person who does the inspections you have done at present and ask whether the inspections are being done to a written scheme. if they are, and the document has been lost, ask for a duplicate.

If there is no written scheme, and the pressure systems fall under the requirements of the regs, then you need to contact a company that will do this for you. Your insurer may be able to help.

Jane
