I have a query regarding the standards applicable to electrical installations fitted to fire appliances, i.e. the power/charger sockets fitted in fire appliances which are charged from a 240v electric hook-up then used to power/charge electrical appliances used/stored on the appliance at incidents. Can anyone advise what standards are applicable? We feel that they do not come under the Portable Appliance Testing regime as they are strictly speaking fixed appliance installations, however, they are not part of a building either. The closest thing we feel they come to is a caravan. Also, can anyone advise as to the level of competence our fleet engineers would need to demonstrate to be able to install, repair and maintain these power outlets. Many thanks Gail Carrier
