Posted By Jonathan Sandler Did anybody see a news item regarding a church and the price to change a light bulb. Story for those who did not hear about this: A Church had for years had there light bulbs changed by a electrician, the bulb holder is over 40 foot above the ground, the electrician used to get out a set of ladders!!! and change the bulb, ok so far, price pennies. Vicar calls the same electrician approx 2 weeks ago to change a light bulb that has blown, electrician turns up, deep intake of breath, can not do it off ladders any more gov, need scaffolding, another trained electrician, plus labourier, health and safety gov honest, cost to the church for changeing a light bulb?..................... £1500. Honest gov health and safety, your comments welcomed.

Posted By MungoDundas My tuppenceworth, We get called to this kind of job more often these days. In previous years, young fit engineering minded members of the congregation would deal with re-lamping, painting, plumbing repairs, etc. Now, these bods are getting over 70 and are not so keen to haul ladders around the pews. It seems as if, as society has changed, there are no new young bloods coming through to take over, so the fabric convenor has to call for outside help.
