Why would you want a permit to work at height?

Hi Salus,
I thought Working at height is also is a high risk activity in some cases esp. when working on fragile roof etc... Also i am planning to make risk assesment for individual work at height activity based on maintenance needs. I am quite new to HSE role and welcome any guidance.
Thanks,
Regards,
Baskey

working at height is a high risk activity we operate a permit to work system based on (1)details on the intend work, (2) the hazard precautions - For example if you have fragile roof light it would be specified on the permit and precautions e.g. covering roof lights. also here details on access equipment used to reach the workplace etc (3)persons completing the work- This to record that the contractor understands what they can and cannot do, and be satisfied for work to commence. (4) authorise the work -signed by a responsible person (5) on completion of work handover - Means you know the job has finished and tradesmen have not left tools etc. on the roof.
i will email you a copy of the permit which may help you in your mission

You would indeed be corrrect to use a PTW system for WAH issues. I will email you a comprehensive document.

To clarify one minor point, WAH is a heck of a broad spectrum of working, I would not neccessarily issue a permit for all WAH situations, however until you clearly comprehend what is and whats not, nobody's gonna kick you where the sun don't shine for being over careful, its a bit like riddor, if in doubt.............
