Posted By Robert K Lewis Very simply in the area of reflective material on the vest. Work on highway requires class 1 but you can select on whatever basis you require. Bob

Posted By paul debney thanks Bob so class 2 is alright for a warehouse, saving me £5.00 a vest.

Posted By lewes On this subject matter, why do Rail Workers have to wear Orange Hi-Viz Clothing where as most other users wear Yellow Hi-Viz Clothing. Can someone please advise. Thanks

Posted By Gary L Correction Bob, Work on highways requires employees to wear as a minimum Class 2 clothing, or class 3 for high speed roads. Class 1 offers the lowest protection level, but would be sufficient for a warehouse environment. Regards, Gary

Posted By Richard Mathews Paul If you are saving £5.00 a vest I would shop around a bit. I pay £2.35 a vest with company logo printed on rear, but I suppose it never was easy getting money out of a Yorkshire man. Richard

Posted By Stuart Nagle The difference between the classifications on hi-vis (dayglow yellow)is in: 1) the number of horizontal 'hoops' the vest has, and 2) the reflective qualities of the retroreflective material I'm not sure about the railway workers having to wear red because they may look like a green light if they do not? sounds a little simplistic to me, and I know that railway employees were wearing red long before the hi-vis 'dayglow yellow' or 'saturn yellow' as it is often reffered to as, ever appeared on the roads - as road workers also used to wear red 'bibs' at one time... Perhaps someone could enlighten us further.... Stuart

Posted By Steve Kirk Do Railworkers HAVE TO wear orange/red Hi Viz or are they chosen for another reason?, I have chosen orange vests in the past when working outside for the simple reason that yellow tends to attract several thousand insects and orange atrracts much less.

Posted By IT Rail workers are required to wear orange I think it is a standard adopted by the Rail Industry some time ago ,Green helmets are prohibited from Trackside as the drivers confuse them for green lights. IT
