Posted By Steve Allen According to the latest news on this website - and IOSH welcoming 6000 chartered members.... it continues to say that we may now use the CMIOSH status - so in answer to your question it appears to be "yes"

Posted By Brian Hagyard I have just received an email newsletter from SHEpro, which says 6,000 IOSH members are now chartered. Having looked at other areas of this web site I think these are probably those that were RSP before the changes. For those members with at least one completed cycle of CPD but were not RSP it looks as if we have to wait until “later this year”. So Jonathan if this chap was RSP I think he can use the “C” letter. If Hazels checking this thread lets hope she gives us a definitive answer to save the Grange staff having to do a noise assessment for the phones ringing! Brian

Posted By Mark Talbot Hi, There was a letter that went out to those who were chartered in this first batch. On that it told us that 17th would be the date we could start using it. If you check the membership part of this site, they have updated it with the designation we can use. So "yes" we can, and I am.

Posted By Hazel Harvey All, Yes the 'Chartered' word is now a reality. It came into force after yesterday's AGM. About 4.45pm to be precise! The first CF/CMIOSH are members who were preeviously RSP and those who have already completed a full CPD cycle. There were just less than 5000 RSP so approximately 1000 other members are also going through. New 'Chartered' certificates are currently being prepared and these will hopefully be with you next week. This obviously will confirm your status if your not sure. If you haven't yet completed your CPD you will transfer to Chartered when you complete your CPD cycle. So the next batch of people will be transferred at the end of December. By the end of 2007 all eligible members will have had the chance to complete their CPD and the MIOSH category will disappear to join the now defunct Register of Safety Practitioners (RSP). If you haven't registered for CPD yet you still have the chance up until June 30th 2006. Most members are already on board though so the transfer is going quite well. If you are unsure about your own position we are happy to speak to you call our Membership or CPD departments and they can check your position. However, leave it a few days yet before you do this as the certificate distribution will have taken place then. Just a note for Technician Members you will also be receiving a new certificates. In addition to the 4000 TechSP there will also be about 5000 other members receiving these. Also referring to the other thread about Technician members having no voice. Have a look at the new composition of Council in the Royal Charter and Byelaws that were sent out with the Annual Report. Council may now have up to 9 non-corporate members on it and is elected by ALL IOSH members. The new Board of Trustees also has both non-corporate members and non-members on it. IOSH is a charity promoting health and safety in the interests of public benefit not just safety practitioners!
