Posted By Brian Kane I suposed the question that I should have asked is. Is the NEBOSH level 3 certificate equal to ONC or HNC. It's just that my employer seems to value those people who have HNC more that those who have level 3. I realise that this is a H/S forum but I want my NEBOSH general certificate to count for something. Remember that most people on here started at the bottom and that from little acorns etc, etc....

Posted By Hazel Harvey Brian, There is no exact answer to your question. The ONC and HNC qualifications were generally run via either FE colleges or Polytechnics and more or less disappeared with the Polys when they became universities. The NVQ, however, didn't come in until the mid-eighties and was not meant to be a formally taught qualification but a workplaced based assessment of skills. However, if you took the view that the ONC was approximately an 'A' level and the NVQ level 3 and related vocational qualifications are seen similarly by the QCA framework, then you could take the view that the ONC and the NVQ 3 would be of a similar level.

Posted By Brian Kane Thanks Hazel. It's not the answer that I was looking for but your comparison is the best so far and is probably near the mark...worst luck!
