Posted By Stephen Bridgehouse We have a recycling trailer for waste paper, the problem we are experiencing is the leveling of mounts of paper using long poles. We had a special gantry built to allow the operators to be at a height which allows them to move the paper along the trailer. However, we have identified a manual handling impact using long poles with the weight, plus the pushing and pulling etc. We tried a lighter pole but the problem with this is that these tended to break easily. If anyone is doing this activity and experienced similar problems and solved them, please let me know how you did it.

Posted By DaveT It may help if you have a photograph available to picture the scenario. E mail me direct if you have one and I will pass to my colleagues in recycling to see if they are able to help. DAVE

Posted By Merv Newman Would a pole-vaulter's pole be of any use ? And maybe a "pulling" technique would be more effective than "pushing" ? Merv
