Posted By David P. Johnson Most probably because being "Joe Bloggs CMCIOSH" sounds even more long winded. Does it ultimately matter that IOSH hasn't given itself a 'C', too?

Posted By Rob Strange Peter It has always been the case that the goal of individual Chartered status was the key objective for IOSH - happily, this is now achieved! The Council debated the issue of whether to seek a change of name for the organisation when the brand review was carried out about 3 years ago. Research amongst members and stakeholders (those we seek to influence) showed that the existing brand name of "IOSH" had extremely high recognition and reputation associated with it; as a result of this research and considerable debate at the time, Council resolved to retain the acronym "IOSH" in order to maximise these benefits and also to avoid the many less attractive (and risky!) acronyms that putting an extra "C" in front could lead to! This position will, of course, be kept under regular review as we carry out periodic reviews of our brand and reputation. Rob Strange Chief Executive
