You offered a link to the TUC site which has a lot of useful information, however......
The Site states in its' overview that: "Failure by an employer to comply with health and safety law is an offence and may lead to prosecution by the HSE or Local Authorities Workers who exercise their health and safety statutory rights, such as reporting the health and safety crimes of their employer, are legally protected from victimisation."
And that is where, for me, the TUC Site fails. It does not give a balanced picture (though if you delve you I am sure will eventually get the full picture). For example wher is the reference to the employees responsibilities or the requirement to work with your employer to achieve H&S.

Bill,
I believe the question was "I am trying to explain how UK legislation is made in particlar how EU directives are transposed into UK law. Can someone point me in the direction of a good web page or another source of info", hence a link to the TUC.
Should you like to start another thread on "for me, the TUC Site fails. It does not give a balanced picture (though if you delve you I am sure will eventually get the full picture). For example wher is the reference to the employees responsibilities or the requirement to work with your employer to achieve H&S." I am sure it would attract a great deal of interest. As a Union Rep and having completed the TUC Stage Three Cert with a few reps from Dounreay I suspect that some of the reps from the Atomic Energy Authority would also be able to point out that the TUC as an Organisation successfully Represents the workforce, and is a major force in helping change H&S Legislation for the better. I also add that the first thing a Union Rep learns is the responsibilities of the individual under the HASAW 1974, and any other responsibilities under any further legislation from this.
