Posted By Brian Kane Hi all, I would like some advice if you would be so kind. I have already successfully completed the general certificate and this year I am currently doing the TUC certificate in OSH at NVQ level 3. It is my understanding that both of these qualifications will get me to the membership level of Tech IOSH formerly Tech SP. Previously it was Dip 1 and the TUC cert that could get you to this level of membership. My query is, now that I can already apply for Tech IOSH, is it worth doing Dip 1 next year or should I go to Dip 2 or NVQ 4. I am a safety rep at a well known UK steel producer, and I have been active for six years now. I enjoy the roll but I would like to make a career in H&S. Any sound advice would be most welcome. Regards Brian

Posted By Raymond Rapp Brian There are several options open to you. I would suggest if your ambitions are serious, then aim high. I was in the same position as you a few years ago and plumped for a MSc degree. I found it very satisfying and erased most stigmas regarding normal routes such as NEBOSH etc. Contact me direct if you would like to know more - ray.rapp@blueyonder.co.uk Regards Ray
