Posted By Lorraine Lee Anybody know (specifically) how dangerous putting tinsel around monitors are? Some know-it-all states we should ban them. I think this is a bit harsh, 'tis the festive season after all. However, risk assessment suggests extra caution... any suggestions apart from isolate? Suppose we could hang it from the ceiling.... but then this could cause injury...! Unmerry christmas anyone?

Posted By Mark Talbot Hi, I may have missed the point, but what is the risk you are worried about? I am guessing fire and electricution. Buy flame retardant tinel (does anyone ever buy anything else?) and keep it out of the back vents. Do that and all will be fine - I have 27 years worth of office Christmasses and no experience of problems with tinsel around desk items and have not heard of any reliable reports of such at work. I would not allow tinsel around light fittings or anything else that gets hot to the touch.
