I am starting my first full time role in H&S and have been tasked with carrying out a survey of H&S on all of the companies construction sites. To assist me in this endeavor i am looking for a comprehensive checklist of records that should be found in a site office. Any assistance/guidance would be appreciated.

Regards

Les

Go to fastplanonline.co.uk and look at their sample documents. You probably won't need them all of course.

Thanks for the website and as you say it certainly has a lot of checklists etc to download.
Unfortunately not the one i am after, i suppose i will have to do it the hard way and trawl through the Regs and design my own unless someone else out there knows were i can find it.

Once again
Many thanks

Les

You could start with the HSE CIS series of free leaflets - their latest is on inspections and reports required for contruction sites. CIS 47(rev).

You will find lots of guidance in CITB publications and good guidance in the Construction Industry Publications Ltd tel 0870 078 4400 (known as the blue books - don't be put off by the price they are top class).

If you are new to safety and you visit sites and ask about paperwork, your managers will think you are just a "tick box safety officer" (just checking the paperwork). And managers will produce paperwork for you to tick on your sheets.

You may wish to walk the sites, talk to the staff and look at compliance with high risk areas of construction first.

Its rare that you will get enforcement attention for well managed and safe sites that are a bit down on paperwork. You will however receive a lot of attention for unsafe sites regarless of having ***t hot paperwork.

Many thanks for the response to my request and i will certainly look at the CITB site. As for the walking around site, i am aware that this is were the real problems can occur and have experience on that side of things so to speak and certainly do not wish to be thought of as a "tick in the box" man. The request was more to ensure that all aspects were to be looked at on the initial site visit.

Once again

Many thanks
