Dear all,

I am part of a small group looking to put on a two day music festival in the northeast, i am going to be part of the safety team at the event.
What i am looking for is real advice from safety professionals who have run or partcipated in this type of event, and or examples of safety plans etc for this type of event. I have the guidance notes from the HSE wich is good, but im looking for experianced views from those who have been involved.

Many thanks

Stew

Hi Stewart

When you refer to HSE guidance do you mean a short leaflet or the actual documents:

HSG 195 and HSG 154

They are both extremly useful documents and you can base your management plan around them. There is also a British Standard (BS 8406) that might be useful to you.

As a past local authority health and safety advisor i worked on the organising of music and public events, if you struggling to get information let me know and i'll see what i can pull together for you, or if you want a chat just drop me a line.

Good luck and regards

Mal

Stewart,

I have 20+ years experience in the entertainment and event industry and regularly over see and help develop event safety plans including festivals. Its a big subject!

I have practical hands on event management experience through all stages of an event, planning, mobilisation, event and demobilisation and all liaison stages.

Have close connections with a Sound and lighting Company that specialise in festivals and live music events.

I am also part of a multi agency team that oversee the Royal Lancashire Agricultural Show.

What do you need to know?

I will send you a copy of the Rules of Management for Places of Public Entertainment which is v useful for any sort of Events Mgt.

Worked over a decade in West End so have a keen insight to this sort of thing - although predominately spend most of it drinking my way through the clients wine list.
