Pigeon Droppings - Health & Safety Issue - Help required

We have a potential problem on our hospital site. Removal of dead pigeons and working in close contact with pigeon droppings.
I request any info on the above subject. Is there anything, anyone can tell me about how this problem is to be handled on our own. What level of PPE should be used?
Any recommendations on equipment/tools etc to help eradicate the problems of pigeons etc. Thanks in advance

Hi Uday,
You want to try and avoid workers breathing in airborne droppings.
Hence, possible precautions include wet cleaning and the use of disposable respirators.
Google search for Psittacosis will give you more advice.
Regards, Peter

Hi Uday
We did this earlier in the year on this forum. Lots of useful advice was offered then.

Hi Uday,
It may also be worth considering the impact pigeon droppings, particularly if built up over a longer period may have had on the structure of any floors underneath i.e. rotting timbers.

We had a problem with pigeons in the past. They caused serious damage to the fabric of our buildings and made fire escape walkways slippy. We pest proofed the buildings (netting and spikes) which worked very well.
