Posted By Martyn Hendrie Setting aside any issues regarding the operators safety in operating the controls. (Which should have been adequately considered by the manufacturer). In my experience the most significant risk is, if the positioning of the stockpile material and machine loading the hopper are not carefully thought through, the operator can be at risk of being struck by a machine bucket.

So not sure whether you need the services of an IOSH Registered Consultant, but here's some input from one. Assuming you are referring to a self-contained concrete crusher [possibly with screening plant] rather than crusher attachment to an excavator, then...... Issues include effective guarding [and subsequent maintenance]for the various munching machinery and associated drives + noise, vibration and dust exposure. Often a source of substantial neighbourhood complaints, but reduces lorry movements, and associated road traffic and noise etc risks. Regards, Peter

Posted By Chris Knagg Last time I had mobile crushing and screening plant on hire for a project had loads of issues with local authority to deal with including: Licence for moving the plant in the first instance from site to site Storage of materials and quantities (Lots of info in the Waste Management regs.) Environmental impact and control measures. My advice is you need to be up to speed before you get caught out. Consult with your local authority BEFORE they consult with you! Been there got the T shirt and it was not a fun experience.
