The company that I work for has built a battery charging room next to the main warehouse area.
We use many different types of fork trucks and ppts.
I am about to commence my RA on battery charging operations.
How much Hydrogen gas is produced by a battery when being charged as I would like some information on what zone (0,1,2) under DSEAR Regs this workspace would come under?
Is the Hydrogen likely to be leeked to atmosphere every charging period not?

Hi Paul,

The amount of hydrogen released will vary dependant on a variety of factors from age of battery to the effectiveness of battery maintenance regime.

It is worth noting that hydrogen is lighter than air and will rise and any extraction system will need to consider this.

Hope this helps
