Posted By Chris Harris Help! We have hired contractors to damp proof our premises & replace lots of rotten flooring, architraving, joists & lintels. Risk assessments inc COSHH are all done & the work is notifiable under CDM to HSE etc but I have now been asked to come up with a "Construction H & S Plan" I have no experience of doing this but have obtained CIS No 43 which gives extensive detail. Is there a protocol for approaching this or.. has anyone got a suitable template or an example I could use to get it right?

Posted By Mal Shiels Hi Chris
Chris can you clarify a couple of points, is it the pre construction health and safety plan or the construction phase health and safety plan you are refering to?
Quick resume of proceedings Chris is:
Client wants work done; CDM applies (as seems the case here); Client appoints planning supervisor (he ensures pre construction health and saftey plan is prepared, commonly prepared by himself); Client appoints contractor; Contractor produces construction phase health and safety plan; Client can not let contractor start until plan is in place and is suitable.
Hope this helps Chris, and come back to me on which plan you are referring to as it is the principal contractors responsibility to produce the construction phase health and safety plan.
Regards
