Help!

I have two interviews for positions in colleges assisting with H&S - this is an area I have no experience in, so would be very grateful if someone working in the field could spare 20 minutes of their time to give some pre-interview coaching on what to expect - offers to my email please!

Many thanks,

Dave

David,

I am a H&S Advisor in a College of FE. The main issues I have are:

Safe Learner - This is an LSC initiative that places the onus on training providers to ensure their learners are correctly supervised are in a safe workplace and are given underpinning knowledge of H&S. How would you ensure this happens?

Staff Training - Academic staff are either full or part time and hence it is very difficult to get them to attend staff training in H&S. They work during the day and are off during block leave periods. How would you crack this nut?

I would recommend the Association of College's (AoC) Website as a start point if you've never worked at a College before.

Good Luck
Vince.

Contact your local HSE office, they enforce H&S in colleges. Speak to an Inspector and ask what basic areas they look at? I'm sure they'll be happy to help?

Good luck with the interviews.

David it might be helpful if you asked those being interviewed some scenario questions, e.g what would you do in the event of an accident involving one of the students after a fall from height in one of the classrooms?
