Or are they!

Following on from the hijacking of 'CCNSG v's SPA Safety Passports' I thought the subject deserved it's own.

What are your experiences and what can be done to sort it.

Look over the other thread and have your say I'm personally interested in finding out which places to avoid

Now I do not think they are scams, they all have a part to play, where the scam comes in is where one does not recognise the other.

These organisations know that if you have already beeen accredited / verified you will fly through their vetting / accreditation but will not recognise the cert you already have, so pay up!! THAT'S THE SCAM!

The whole idea is so that you do not have to do the form filling and sending documentation and I quote "The Certificate can be used to demonstrate to clients the high standard of H&S you have attained. Please do remember to use this as an alternative to completing pre-qualification questionnaires". Still filling in the forms!!!!

I always say we have this and this cert but not very good if only a small % of industry recognise.

Until the HSE defines and stands by a standard, we will have loads of different schemes. All mutually exclusive and demanding money for thier bit of paper, I have the CSCS card, even though am qualified I still had to sit test, took all of five minutes, now have the card not that it's really worth much.

Have had clients insist that I take thier approved scheme, often a body they have or have had links with and have refused and pointed to my quals and experience.

Maybe a nuisance but in reponse to the credit card ad 'What's in your wallet' my answer would be too much bl!*dy plastic from safety schemes.
