Posted By Carrie Ellerby As far as I can see or know - it is just a basic tractor driving licence through DVLA at either age 16 (small tractors) or 17. I'm almost sure that anyone with a normal drivers license is able to legally drive a tractor on the road! Then of course there is PUWER - a tractor is work equipment; there may be some local agricultural colleges that do advanced tractor training to ensure compliance with this?? Check out indg185 and misc165 Carrie

Posted By Emma Forbes We are looking at training all our tractor operatives to LANTRA standards http://www.lantra-awards.co.uk/ - they also do units for different attachments etc. I'm sure somewhere on the page is a list of training centres that would be in your area

Posted By Martin Gray You should contact your local agricultural college who run courses for tractor driving and also for specific types of equipment that is attached to the tractor.

Posted By Jane Watts Thanks. Looked at Lantra site, which looks useful. It looks as though it's along the lines of what I thought, i.e. local agricultural college. Just wanted to check wether there was an industry standard or not. thanks

Posted By Glyn Atkinson The company that I work for in Hull are starting the process of discussion on this subject with the national driver training manager for Barloworld, Mr Ian Marshall, - contact number - 07966-340043. We tow various sizes of trailers using tractors, adapted milk floats and electric buggies, so the training programme is varied and requires us to be of a minimum RTITB standard to appease our insurers in all classes of towing vehicle. This company have been useful for our training purposes and could perhaps have a solution for your quest. regards , Glyn Atkinson (CMIOSH)
