Posted By paul debney My warehouse manager has to take down a section of racking this afternoon. He wants to use a fork lift with a safety cage attachment to get the maintenance dept up to a height to dismantle the racking section. The cage attachment has no record of testing within any 6 month period as required by LOLER regs. The only other option available is the use of ladders. The space is needed this afternoon so the job cannot be put off as we have had a massive unexpected order to complete.
I dont like the use of ladders for this job, but the cage has not been inspected to the statutory standard. This job has to be done today, any ideas?

Posted By AlB Get someone in to inspect the cage and forklift, or hire in a cherry picker or tower scaffold. Order them in now, insist you get them in time. Job done.
Then ensure that the cage is inspected every 6 months so you never have this dilemma again.
