we have a policy on lone working, each case dependent on RA (risk assessment). Depends on your type of business, ours helps under-supported youngsters, so generally staff make home visits in pairs, but if they can't must always ensure that another colleague knows their itinerary, carry personal alarms, wear shoes they can run in and so on. You need to RA the worker's medical suitability to work alone, the risk of violence, the risk of harmful claims being made (eg of attack) against your staff, the lone worker to have at least one other person they can contact in emergency, to have a system of calling police after a number of failed attempts at making contact.
