Hello All

Hope you can help and give an opinion on this accident.

A fire fighter playing badminton as part of their daily PT pulls a muscle in their back and is subsequently absent from work for over 3 days.

Is this accident classed as a sporting accident or out of or in connection with a work activity and therefore reportable??

Thanks in advance

Rich

The firefighter has been absent from work for the statutorily defined period [3 days or more] after having been injured taking part in an employer required activity [maintenance of physical fitness, flexibility and agility] in the employers time on the employers premises Rich.

Why would it not be reportable under RIDDOR?

There are also several earlier threads [they appear regularly on this Forum - I wish the HSE read the them and took heed of the lack of clarity of RIDDOR] dealing with the same topics. There are several useful answers included.
