Hi All,
I am looking into our options for call outs, following an alarm activation.
The current arrangement is as follows: -
If a sensor is set off in one of our buildings it will register with our alarm centre. The alarm centre will call one of our key holders, who will then attend to look at the cause of the alarm. The police will not attend unless 2 or more sensors are activated.
My concern is obviously that potentially the task we are asking our staff top undertake, is to attend a burglary and confront the burglars. (you can imagine the risk assessment results)
I am currently looking into alternative arrangements and would appreciate your views on my options.
Many Thanks,
Scott

We carried out a very thorough RA on this at one of our particular sites. Our conclusions were that fortunately for me (as the person at the top of the call out list), we employed the services of an alarm monitoring and response company. The alarm company were quite happy to take us on, having been to visit and carry out a site survey.
Our local commumity are quite hostile towards us, so it was felt that attending potentially confrontational and intruder events would not be safe for me or any other members of our staff. It took a little bit of persuading for the board to side with me (how would you feel if that was your wife or daughter? what would happen if one of was injured in this type of event? Went on to explain about accident costs etc)and they have agreed.

Hi Claire,
Thanks for your input on this, but we cannot give a security company unaided access to our site due to the nature of our company and confidentilaity agreements we have with our customers.
I am exploring the possibility of having a security company attend with a member of staff, however, this would still leave a possibility of both being attacked. I accept that this may reduce the risk a little but I would imagine that we would be partly liable along with the security company, for any harm which may come to their staff as well as our own?
Many Thanks,
Scott

Is it feesible to install remotely monitored CCTV - in the event of an alarm, either the monitoring centre or the person being called out could check the site remotely.
