Regarding forklift training, is the RTITB Licence a licence for life or is the employee required to undertake refresher training every 2/3 years?
Risk assessment would suggest that it is something that should be undertaken on a regular basis as part of any other training that employees should be subject to. The RTITB advised me that it is not necessary once the licence has been issued, just like a car driving licence.
My previous employer subjected their flt users to a new course every 3 yrs.
Any thoughts?

Hi Phillipe,
On being sucessful on the RTITB prescribed course the trainee is issued with a 'Certificate of Basic Training'. The newly qualified operator should then undergo Specific Job and Familiarisation training and following sucessfully undergoing both should be issued with 'Authorisation' to operate on the Employer's premises by the Employer. This authorisation is the nearest you can get to a licence. There is a recommendation that refresher training takes place every three years.
