Posted By toploader not the usual question concerning refreshers but concerning a forklift refresher does it involve a test, the same as carried out at the end of basic training or just an assesment of driving watching the operator move 2 or 3 pallets. Thanks

Posted By Chris Pope Personally I just watch until I've seen enough to tell me that they are a talented driver who knows how to hide their bad habits when I am watching !

Posted By Linda Crossland-Clarke Hi I think it depends on who is delivering the refresher. If its in-house, then the choice is the person who is reponsible for H&S. If its accredited, I would think they would do the theory paper and the practical test.

Posted By TBC Any 'refresher' worth it's salt is the test again. That's what I used to do and what's expected. I know it's a bit severe, but these drivers have to get rid of bad habits, they are driving a dangerous machine and handling a lot of expensive goods.

Posted By Linda Crossland-Clarke Definate depends on who administers the refresher. RTITB will retest on theory and practical. ITSAR - I don't know. If your MD is strong with H&S then he/she will make sure the RTITB way is followed. What does your insurance stipulate? Linda

Posted By Paul Schofield A refresher course is only as good as the person who is giving it. To ensure a quality refresher course always use accredited insructors whenever possible. The standard of the operator usually comes from their training
