Posted By Phil Brunton I have been reading through the COSHH regulations and there is no time period stated for retention of COSHH assessments. However it does state that Health Surveillance and Monitoring Records must be kept for 40 years. Does this mean that COSHH assessments must also be kept for 40 years? Can anyone help?

Posted By Adrian Watson Phil, No; Records pertaining to individuals have to be kept for 40 years; engineering records for 5 years. There no stipulated time for keeping records of risk assessmentsbut I would recommend 5 years. Regards Adrian Watson

Posted By Frank Hallett I agree with Adrian with one proviso - if Health Surveillance records are required, I would strongly suggest that the relevant RA is kept with them 'cos in 39 years time the standards and expectations will have changed [I hope]. Frank Hallett
