I am in need of increasing the qualitative knowledge I have with respect to asbestos; I would like to study to achieve a specific asbestos qualification; could anyone by experience recommend a suitable course provider in the South West of England for me to consider?
Many thanks

Dave
I am wishing to increase my current qualifications to ensure I meet the criteria of totally competent with respect to asbestos, with that in mind I am looking for a specific course with certification that would take me further than any previous Nebosh/Iosh cert/dip would achieve.

Ultimately removing via an HSE licensed company with full register details passed to the demolition experts. Having identified White, Blue, Brown on site in a poor state but securely 'locked off' I am reasonably satisfied that it is in fact currently 'safe' I would just like to go the extra mile in terms of that qualification on paper.

Will the BOHS courses fill the bill? Look for them via www.bohs.org.

Sounds like you are going to be responsible for managing in Non Domestic Premises, for most people some training in awareness of legislative responsisbilities is usually enough, there are other options such as the Asbestos Removal Contractor Management Course or Management of Asbestos Client Management Course but without knowing the scope of your responsibilities & potential for removal activities I wouldnt want to hastily jump in & direct you down a particular route without first establishing your exact requirements.
www.arca.org.uk has plenty of options for you to consider.

Have you tried NATAS in Birmingham. They operate courses through-out country including BOHS courses.

Charley,
BIOSH P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings. You get a proficiency certificate in Asbestos Management. It's normally a 3 day course with a small practical assessment and multi-choice exam at the end, (not difficult so don't worry). You can contact me directly if you would like to know more.
Cheers,
Stephen.

Charley
When you have passed you course, uncross your fingers and do some 'IOSH net-working' to visit removal jobs. (I know I don't need to tell you that the course is just a course, ask your local branch for a talk by the HSE Asbestos Licensing Officer)
