Posted By PaulForshaw I am trying to find (without much success & loads of hair pulling) what the regulatory requirements are for the evacuation of persons from passenger lifts. I've looked at the HSE website & tried to trawl their data on LOLER & passenger lifts but I can't find anything that's not to do with railways or off shore installations! Does anyone know if a trained person other than the lift manufacturer & the rescue services is allowed to extract persons in the event of a lift (in an office building) getting stuck & if so does anyone know who can provide the correct & approved training within the W Yorks region?

Posted By J Knight Hi Paul, We train selected personnel in premises with lifts to operate the emergency lower device. The training is done by our insurers ans therefore satisfies them, John

Posted By Descarte I have had notices in the past that this ervice will no longer be avilable from our local fire service, so we had to look in to getting our own people trained and a call out system rota, which was included on the normal maintenance one.
