Also stress the importance of management control - they wouldn't dream of not exercising management control over any other part of the business so why aren't they doing so with H&S. What are the current costs of personal injury claims? There may not be fines involved but believe me claims cost, whether or not you have EL insurance. What about the affects of having key people off with injuries? Damage to expensive plant due to inadequate training? I'm sure that there are loads of cost saving areas if you think about it. Then there are the moral grounds - a bit more intangible but no-one likes to think that they may not go home in the same state as they arrived in the morning, or that someone else may not be going home due to their actions or inactions.
