Posted By Phillipe I work for a large retailer and we have appointed persons in all our stores who have undergone formal training. In a number of stores we also have fully trained 1st aid staff. To answer your question, we do not pay anyone at all, which is nice !

Posted By Peter Taylor14 we pay the £150, I dont know how we arrived at this sum but there you go. The large retailer should pay people that carry out extra duties, I wont shop there again!!!!

Posted By Jonathan Breeze We do not pay our 1st Aiders or Appointed Persons extra. They tend to volunteer because they know they can obtain transferrable skills and other benefits for no extra cost. It's a culture thing. The flip side to the comment by Peter Taylor is: "Why should an employer pay an employee for fulfilling their Section 7 (b) HASWA duties as the employee should be doing that anyway?" But I don't believe that was what Graeme wanted to discuss. I shall therefore continue to consider using the said large retailer to purchase a quality low cost twinset should I ever need such an item! ;)
