Posted By Phillipe The advent of touch screen tills in the retail environment. Does anyone know if it is possible to have a filter placed over the screen and still be able to use the touch screen capabilities of the till. The person in question is prone to epilepsy and in the past has used a screen/terminal that does not require touching the screen to process a transaction and has had a filter placed over it thus reducing the chance of an epileptic convulsion. Is that as clear as mud?

Posted By Simon Ayee Phillipe Have a look at Epilepsy Actions website: http://www.epilepsy.org....nfo/photo_computers.html This has useful information on LCD/TFT and CRT displays, flicker rates and software. Interestingly they do not advocate the use of anti-glare screens (if that is what you meant by filter). Hope this helps.

Posted By Jonathan Breeze Phillipe, Were you looking at the cash till at any point during the time your mind went blank? ;) I understand that any problems are normally due to screen flicker at 50 Hz that normally accompanies traditional cathode ray (TV style) monitors. This cannot normally be rectified by filters, but the use of LCD or TFT type screens should eliminate the problem. ETA: I've just looked at Simon's link - it's very good and explains the issue far more thouroughly.
