Wanting some help.
Where i currently work there are quite a few slinging activities taking place. I have done a risk assessment, but for some reason i cannot see hazards more then crushing and trapping, and for control measures i have refresher training.
I would be greatful if anyone could send me an example of a general slinging risk assessment.

I'll try to scan one in but you also need to look at accidental release. Sling failure, unplanned release of the load. Overhead strikes etc. I'll see if i can scan. Stand by.

Tani, If a heavy load is released unintentionally (sling failure etc) it can have serious effects on the crane itself. Competency, banksman, tag lines, lift plan are some of the controls but of course the degree of these depends on the complexity of the lift.

one I always consider is ejected materials. Ive actually seen a falling load hit an object on the floor and cause it to fly off in the air. The others are like you mention crushing, trapping, impact, crane damage.

manual handling (muscle strain when slinging also risk or cuts and abrations to hands), condition of lifting equipment (ie LOLER), type of slings to be used (Nylon or wire).
