By way of a reminder an acronym is a pronouncable name made up from a series of initial letters.
They serve as a useful reminder, so have a guess and use them (each followed by a clue):
ERIC PD (RA)
PEMEC (SSW)
TOIL (MH)
SIMON (Personal)
Some of these are well known, perhaps there are others we can all benefit from - if so tell us?
Answers to be revealed soon if you can't get them.

Surprised no-one has come up with the two old chesnuts.
There I was and the situation was SNAFU
"Cheer up!" said the manager, "It could be worse."
So I cheered up, and it became FUBAR.
SNAFU (Situation normal, all fouled up)
FUBAR (Fouled up beyond all recognition)
Of course, you could substitute another word for "fouled", but my generation is too polite!!!

A couple to raise a smile:
TTFO was the shorthand at medical school for a diagnosis of 'Too Trivial for Opinion' when people present with a general complaint but there's probably nothing wrong with them! Some years later I was told that it really stood for Told To F*** Off.
Most people will be familiar with BATNEEC - Best available technology not entailing excessive cost. An organisation I'm closely connected to has apparently coined an alternative:
CATNIP
Cheapest Available Technology Not Involving Prosecution....
Best to all,
Allan

Well, my only contribution was going to be RTFM, and if you don't know what that means try the longer LIUITFM. However, I found some brilliant examples on businessballs.com, including MTBBCM, which is mean time between changes of mind (not exactly H&S as such but evidently closely related to MTBF) and PICNIC, problem in chair not in computer; again not particularly H&S but I'm sure we all know what the originator was trying to say,

whilst in the forces, I understood NAAFI to stand for Navy, Army and Air Force institutions, but now in civvy street, it means no ambition and f***all interest.

Doctors in my region have been known to write NFN on the patients notes of some of the strange individuals presenting themselves at the surgery (NFN = Normal for Norfolk).

JFDI - we used to tell people this stood for "Joint Forces Defence Initiative" - needles to say it does not (just effin do it)
Friday is POETS day of course.
I was once told by a Doctor about HEFT Book syndrome where an individual was said to have "had every effin thing" in the book.....
