Posted By Ian Bruce Dear All, I seem to recall that the frequency of first aider refresher training is about to change. However, I'm struggling to find any reference to this in the usual places - HSE web site, Red Cross etc and now I'm begining to think I dreamt it! Does anyone out there have any reference to this? Thanks in anticipation.

Posted By Ian Bruce Thanks to Lynne for the info that she has forwarded to me. Just for reference by others, as far as I can make out from the HSE discussion paper that Lynne forwarded, the main findings are as follows, (I should point out that this is not, so far as I can tell a legislative requirement as yet): Where employers have small numbers of employees and low hazards, then first aiders need only attend a 1 day Emergency First Aid course. A 3 day course will replace the current 4 day course for "full" first aiders, with an annual refresher lasting for roughly half a day. The role of appointed person will remain where assessment has shown that there is no need for the employer to provide first aiders. The HSE will be issuing new guidance including additional guidance on completion of first aid assessments. Updates on the progress of these plans will be published on the HSE Web Site, First Aid pages. Hope this helps.
