Posted By Scott d Hi All, Is anybody aware of a standard of trouser for handling glass. Our warehouse staff take delivery and handle quantities of glass bottles and I would like to take extra precaution, in case of broken glass. Many Thanks, Scott

Posted By Saracen11 Hi Scott, your risk assessment, which I’m sure you’ve already done, should identify the hazards and corresponding control measures. What are the control measures in place at present? The types of trousers you have in mind don’t come cheap. How many people do you employ, what are your accident/incident rates that you feel justify extra protection (from what you suggest, it’s not essential protection), why only trousers and not full suits (do your staff wear safety boots and spats? Do they have hand/arm protection, what training has been provided and by whom – are they considered competent? It may be that you needn’t spend money on something you don’t really need if you revise your current arrangements? Regards

Posted By TBC If the bottles are in boxes or crates then they are relatively safe. If as you say there is a chance of accidental damage to employees - then risk assess etc. Hand and arm protection as others have said with possibly safety shoes with 'metatarsal' protection and leather aprons. Just an idea. This site shows the Tusker boot with metatarsal protection. I used these in a steel fabrication workshop - well received and very comfortable. I wore them every day and all day no problem and reasonable price. http://www.lawson-his.co...products.php?cat=Special
