Posted By Phil Burgess I am currently reviewing arrangements for auditing of sub contractors and would be interested in understanding the frequency of audit undertaken by other companys, particularly those in the telecomms, construction and electrical installation sectors. Thanks Phil B

Posted By Robert K Lewis Philip If you mean audit then 6 mthly is more than adequate. If you mean inspection then normally mthly would suffice, providing there are other processes being undertaken which are at sharter durations. In many situations I even have a simplified daily sheet. Bob

Posted By Delwynne Phil I'm in construction. Our subcontractors are included in all on site inspections which are usually carried out weekly. 'Formal' auditing at the contractors establishment is usually undertaken only if we have cause to do so i.e. following an accident or non conformance.

Posted By Jerry Lucey Hi Phil. Six-monthly seems adequate to audit sub-contractors and anually may be sufficient for smaller sub-contractors. It is important that potential sub-contractors are audited prior to being appointed in order to avoid appointing incompetent contractors and to incorporate areas which you would require improvement into the contracts of others.
