The garages are now derelict and various holes in the walls have been boarded up. The roofs are made from asbestos corrugated material. There has been numerous requests put on the council to remove the asbestos and demolish the garages as children keep playing on the roof. The council has refused. They haven't even put any signage to warn of the issues of asbestos or fragile roof. It's only a matter of time before a child is killed by falling through the roof or that the local Ned's torch the garages with the result being asbestos fibre dispersion due to the fire damage. I find it unbelievable that the Local Authority allow this in this day and age when on the other hand they try and ban children playing conkers or going on outdoor activities. Of course it is of no wonder that when the discussion of Corporate Manaslaughter comes along they want exclusions to suit their needs.
